It's May and time for all those Scottish and Highlander romances!

In his book, Scotland An Intimate Portrait, Geddes MacGregor says, "In Scotland the past haunts you like a ghost. To the inhabitant, some effluence of the past clings like sand to wet feet."

MacGregor describes the Highlander as "fiery, imaginative, poetic, fiercely loyal, proud, procrastinating, touchy, with a profound natural insight into religion, a vigorous appreciation of whisky and a tendency to feel jaded when not in the midst of a really good fight." Sound like a Highlander hero to you?

The land of Scotland, its past and its people, are the subject of the historical romances you'll see reviewed on my blog this month. I do hope you come to love them. There are many keepers on the "best list" I'll be updating toward the end of the month!

Meanwhile, to get you in the mood, here's a video tribute to the Highlands and the Islands of Scotland!

  1. WOW! Really beautiful video. Very peaceful. Wouldn't have minded some pipers, though. Can't wait to see some of this stuff in person!
