Best Viking Romances!

Every now and then I love a good Viking Romance. Not fantasy, not paranormal, just straight up historical romance from the time of the raiding Norse warriors. There’s nothing like a Viking raid and a strapping tall warrior to get your blood boiling, right? Well, of course, it must be well done and we want a strong heroine to give the guy a hard time. And a little history thrown in doesn’t hurt either. If you like ‘em, here’s a list of those I’ve rated 4 and 5 stars!

·       Blind Allegiance and Blind Mercy by Violetta Rand
·       Dawnfire by Lynn Erickson
·       Dream of Me, Believe in Me and Come Back to Me, trilogy by Josie Litton
·       Edin’s Embrace by Nadine Crenshaw
·       Fires of Winter, Hearts Aflame and Surrender My Love, trilogy by Johanna Lindsey
·       Forbidden Passion by Theresa Scott
·       Golden Surrender, The Viking’s Woman and Lord of the Wolves, trilogy by Heather Graham
·       Season of the Sun, Lord of Hawkfell Island and Lord of Raven’s Peak by Catherine Coulter
·       Maidensong by Diana Groe
·       Norse Jewel by Gina Conkle
·       Northward the Heart by Maureen Kurr
·       Odin’s Shadow by Erin Riley
·       Raeliksen, Mac Liam and The Temperate Warrior by Renee Vincent
·       Sea Jewel by Penelope Neri
·       Tara’s Song by Barbara Ferry Johnson
·       The Bewitched Viking by Sandra Hill
·       The Deepening Night by Jayne Castel (7th century Britain, but no Vikings)
·       The Enchantment (first published as My Warrior’s Heart) by Betina Krahn
·       The Pagan’s Prize by Miriam Minger
·       The Viking’s Defiant Bride by Joanna Fulford
·       The Viking’s Sacrifice by Julia Knight
·       Twin Passions by Miriam Minger
·       Viking Captive by Emma Merritt
·       Viking Gold by Nadine Crenshaw
·       Viking Passion by Flora Speer
·       Viking Rose by Ashland Price
·       Viking Sword: The Stranded One by Mairi Norris

Let me know if I’ve missed one you love! I know there are good ones out there and I am always looking for a great Viking romance.

  1. What a terrific list! I especially agree Mairi Norris's delightful Viking Sword! And with Diana Groe's Maidensong (and the other two of that Viking trilogy.) Diana writes terrific Regencies now as Mia Marlowe (she's a member of my local writer's group. How lucky is that!)

I'd completely forgotten about Josie Litton's--they were terrific, as were Bettina Krahn's. I've got to re-read these.

As for the others I need to get reading :) Thanks for posting this wonderful list.

    1. So glad you like the list, Barbara. I've read the second in Groe's trilogy, Erinsong, but it did not make the list. I rarely review Regencies unless they are the deep ones (hard to find these days). Just not into the light ones.

  5. I'm new to your site and looking forward to reading your books as well as others on your list. I just finished reading "Nena" by Ann Boelter. It's the first in a series called "The Treasure Huntress." I can hardly wait for the second one to come out. She's an amazing writer. Thanks so much for you informative and fun blog. I appreciate your time and expertise.

  6. Hello can someone please help me out. In 2008 I read a historical romance novel on vikings. So what i still remember is that this Vuking chief was on a raid and I am not sure if it was England but he got himself a thrall and fell in huge like/love with her. He started treating her differently from the time they were on the ship. His mother didn't approve of the relationship and I am not sure if it was before or after they got married but she tried to drown her by tying her up where the tide was coming in in an attempt to kill her. Another thrall saw this and when the man came back he went to rescue her. If anyone can recall this book please help

    1. Dear Unknown, I do not recognize the drowning aspect. The rest of it sounds like most Viking romances. You might try asking the historical romance group on Goodreads.
