Best Pirate, Privateer and High Seas Romances!

Who doesn’t love a good pirate or privateer saga? All that capturing, swashbuckling and romancing on the high seas—oh yes! My blood is boiling just thinking about it. While there are lots of pirate and privateer romances out there, not all are great ones. Here’s my list of those I have read and rated 4 and 5 stars. Some do not have pirates as such, but may have a swashbuckling sea captain or a privateer. In almost every case, part of the story takes place on the high seas.

  3. Island Flame was the first romance I ever read! I was just 16 and that's when I realized I was meant to be a writer!

    1. Tracy, you are fortunate to learn that with your very first read of a historical novel. I enjoyed Island Flame and thought Robards an exceptional writer.

  5. You can't leave out Frenchman's Creek by Daphne DuMaurier - A classic! And I also loved Tsunami Blue by Gayle Ann Williams, a modern fantasy with a great heroine and a super hot pirate (part 1 of a three part series).

    1. Ellen,
Frenchman's Creek is on my to read shelf but I understood it was not so much historical romance as historical fiction. And I almost never include fantasy on my lists--I like straight historical romance.
